Hope Solo

Generally regarded as the best goalkeeper in the world, two-time Olympic gold medalist Hope Solo began dominating the soccer field during her high school years when she played mostly at forward. Solo's dynamic athleticism allowed her to transition into a full-time role as a college goalkeeper at the University of Washington, where she became the school's all-time leader in shutouts and saves. In 2000, Solo joined the U.S. Women's National Team and once went 1,054 minutes without allowing a goal from the run of play. Solo started in goal during the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games and was integral to helping the U.S. Women's National Team win gold in both Olympic Games. Solo also helped lead the U.S. team to a second-place finish at the 2011 Women's World Cup, where she was recognized as the top goalkeeper in the tournament while becoming only the second U.S. goalkeeper to reach 100 caps.
